In hospital for 16 years, the first 7 in an iron lung, then in 1971 John married Maggie and for the next 35 years and until he passed away in 2006, his home was Breeze Cottage.
Liberty
I’m writing to show all things are possible. 48 years ago, when I
became completely paralysed and needing a respirator to stay alive,
I couldn’t even ring an alarm bell. My world is now transformed!
Modern electronics enable me to control my environment, and through
computers and the internet, I can contact almost anyone in the world
without assistance. Technology has liberated me from the prison of
dependency to which polio condemned me.
